Week 9: publish one of the practice sites on Google Sites

The first day's activities

Brief introduction of Members
Introduction of the authoring – BlueGriffon and the IrfanView image editing programmes

I will present how to build one of the Wood-Smithing websites.
This website is designed for a furniture restoration business and contains seven typical web pages a small business might have, to promote their business on the internet.

These pages are:
Home Page
Case Histories
Testimonials
Services
Useful Tips
Site Map
Contact Us

In the following two weeks we will build the same pages together.

I will also present couple of alternative designs.

Theses alternatives are:
A layout displaying a city's interesting sites
Another will be a search program to find your favored U3A classes.

These example layouts might than be used as templates to create similar web pages yourself.

Finally, I will present how to install the BlueGriffon program onto your home computer.

A copy of the BlueGriffon and IrfanWiew image editing together with the Demo programs and other materials, needed to build the sample websites, will be coped onto your memory sticks.

Please ensure that you have a memory stick and bring it with you.
Also please reply to this email for acceptance of this registration stating your membership number.
We will collect $10.00 to cover coffee and biscuits etc for the nine weeks.

On this first session you will not be needing computers. On subsequent sessions we will have six U3A owned computers (with XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Linux operating systems) for our use. If we have more than six people we might have to bring some laptops in addition.

Looking forward to see you all on the start day.
